Come Celebrate America
is back for its second entertaining season at the Governor's Palace
Theatre in Sevierville. This production, which has already become an
area favorite, promises to again cultivate a deeper appreciation of
America through song, dance and state-of-the-art effects. Come Celebrate
America is patriotism on a giant scale, featuring the largest cast in
the Smokies, (more than 50 singers and dancers) a breathtaking indoor
water show and a 500-square-foot video screen.
One of the high points of the
production is a moving and inspiring tribute to our military heroes. The
entire cast, dressed in green fatigues, performs a medley of songs that
honor the four major branches of the armed services. "Last year, it
was thrilling to watch as guests, young and old, participated in this
tribute," said show producer Randy Rebold, a seven-time Emmy Award
winner. "We had children standing in honor of their parents who
were serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, active duty personnel, home on
leave, wearing their military dress uniform, and thousands of veterans,
some with difficulty standing, rising from their seat as the audience
and cast honored them with music and applause. This is a celebration of
our freedoms and a tribute to the sacrifices made for the greatest
country on Earth,"
But don't feel left out if your family
has no connection to the armed forces. Everyone joins in the celebration
of America when the cast takes you on a wildly entertaining journey
through the 50 states, performing some of America's most beloved
regionally-themed songs, including "New York, New York,"
"Oklahoma," "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Rocky
Top." All this as one of the country's largest video screens
displays thousands of images, portraying the beauty and grandeur of the
United States.
The visual centerpiece of the show at
Governor's Palace Theatre is APRIL SHOWERS, the indoor fantasy water
show. "There is nothing like this in the area," continues
Rebold, "and it's completely different from 2004." The
display of dancing waters and brilliant lighting is spellbinding and
accompanies the cast on three new musical numbers: "Raindrops Keep
Falling on My Head," "Rainy Days and Mondays" and
"April Showers." This year, the colors will be even more
vibrant and many of the computerized water effects are new.
When you go to Governor's Palace
Theatre, expect some uplifting and dramatic contemporary gospel music
too. "No salute to this country would be complete without
acknowledging the blessings of God that America has experienced from its
inception."
